The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Windmore’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame Brings Community Theater and Local Homeownership Mission Together

CULPEPER, VA —Windmore Center for the Arts is bringing one of musical theater’s most powerful and visually spectacular productions to the stage this fall with The Hunchback of Notre Dame—a community theater production featuring talented adult and teen performers from across the region and raising funds to support Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel and featuring the Academy Award-nominated score from the Disney animated film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame combines the unforgettable music of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz with a new book by Peter Parnell that incorporates passages directly from Hugo’s gothic novel.

This production will also mark a first for Windmore, featuring both a live choir and a live orchestra. Combined with a stunning floor-to-ceiling set, breathtaking music and an exceptional cast and crew, the production promises audiences a powerful and immersive theatrical experience that captures the grandeur, emotion and spectacle of this timeless story.

Set in fifteenth-century Paris, the musical follows Quasimodo, the isolated bell-ringer of Notre Dame, as he ventures beyond the cathedral walls during the Feast of Fools. His encounter with the compassionate Esmeralda sets in motion a sweeping story of love, acceptance, courage and the struggle against cruelty and injustice.

In addition to experiencing the production, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a special dinner theater experience, making the event both an evening of entertainment and a way to give back to the local community.

Guests can choose from three unique seating experiences: Front Row Interactive Experience Tables — $100 per person,  Sweetheart Tables — $150 per table and General Dinner Theater Tables — $70 per person

Every ticket purchased helps support the fundraiser benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County, helping Habitat continue its mission of partnering with families to build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership opportunities.

For Amanda Reck, Co-President of Windmore Center for the Arts and Treasurer of Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County, the partnership represents a meaningful connection between two organizations working to strengthen the community in different ways.

“This partnership is especially meaningful to me because I have the privilege of serving both Windmore and Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County. The arts have a unique ability to bring people together, and through The Hunchback of Notre Dame, we have the opportunity to support a mission that changes lives.

“Habitat recently selected the family who will partner with us on the home that is currently being built, making this fundraiser even more meaningful and allowing our community to see the direct impact of their support.

“At the same time, audiences are in for an incredible theatrical experience. The cast, crew, musicians, and volunteers have poured their hearts into this production, and the talent, music, and scale of the show are truly remarkable. Every ticket purchased helps support both the arts and the dream of homeownership for a local family right here in our community. That’s a powerful impact for everyone involved.”

Performance Schedule

The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be presented over two weekends with four evening performances and two Sunday matinees. October 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 & November 1

Through this collaboration, Windmore and Habitat hope to demonstrate the power of community partnerships—where an evening of theater, music and fellowship can also help a local family take an important step toward the dream of homeownership.
